Free Materials for Teaching Neuroscience of Birdsong Available!

Member logins have been temporarily disabled as we move to a new website. All will be well by 2/10/2020.

We have created an image library of song nuclei from the brains of birds so that students can replicate and extend a published experiment that examines the dose of estradiol required to masculinize the female zebra finch brain.  We have used this library for several terms, and students invariably obtain significant results while finding the experience valuable.  Quantitative and qualitative measures show that students make gains in understanding content, experimental design, and statistics.

The image library, supporting PDFs, Student/ Instructor manual, and PowerPoint presentations can be downloaded for free from http://mdcune.psych.ucla.edu/.  Grading keys/rubrics and instructor-specific materials can be obtained by accessing http://mdcune.psych.ucla.edu/faculty/create-a-faculty-account and setting up a faculty account.
