You are invited to nominate members of Nu Rho Psi for positions on the National Council.

During the spring of 2013, the Nu Rho Psi membership will elect a President-elect, Regional Vice President (Midwest region), and Secretary.

Please send your nominations to Dr. G. Andrew Mickley, Executive Director of Nu Rho Psi, before 1 Febuary 2013: [email protected] .

Persons nominating candidates for these National Council positions should secure the nominee’s consent. Self-nominations are welcome.

National Council members are expected to fulfill the duties of their office (see below), be active participants in the life of Nu Rho Psi, attend monthly Council meetings (via teleconferencing) and the annual Nu Rho Psi Council meeting held in conjunction with the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) conference each year. This year the SfN meeting will be November 9-13, 2013, San Diego, CA.

Nu Rho Psi membership is for life and we welcome nominations of members at all levels: undergraduates, graduate students, alumni, and faculty.

Terms of office: The President-Elect serves a 1-year term before becoming President of the Society for 1 year and then Past-President for 1 year (total commitment of 3 years). The term of the Secretary is 2 years. The term of office for Regional Vice Presidents is 3 years.

Installation of Nu Rho Psi officers and Vice Presidents coincides with the Annual National Meeting, which is held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience (November 2013).

Duties of the Nu Rho Psi National Council officers (from the Nu Rho Psi Constitution):

President. It shall be the duty of the President to provide leadership in the activities of the Society by making arrangements for the National meeting/convention and presiding over it, by calling meetings of the National Council and presiding at them, by appointing the members of all national committees, and by performing such other duties as are ordinarily assigned to the office.

Secretary. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to record minutes at all business meetings, check attendance at meetings, keep permanent records, and correspond on behalf of the organization.
